I'm in Yellowstone National Park for a short time of winter photography. I went out shooting for the first time yesterday morning and spent about 45 minutes with this Gray Wolf (Canis lupus) at an elk carcass about 100 yds (90m) out. She's 870F of the Junction Butte Pack and appeared to be quite wary the whole time. There were usually a dozen or so ravens at the carcass too making for an even messier scene, but occasionally they'd flush and this time the wolf looked right at me — perfect!
