Common Nighthawk, Pawnee National Grassland, Colorado

We took a quick look at the swift fox den yesterday afternoon and no foxes were out. That wasn't too surprising because the weather was stormy and swift foxes usually don't like to be out in that kind of weather. So, we looked for other subjects and found this very cooperative Common Nighthawk (Chordeiles minor).

The good news is that a swift fox was out at the den this morning, so they haven't moved and we'll be able to continue photographing them. :)
