One of my favorite species to photograph in Mountain Zebra National Park is the black wildebeest or white-tailed gnu. The species was almost exterminated in the late 1800s, but it has been brought back and can be found in small pockets mostly in South Africa. This adult is one of a long line of black wildebeest that were running shortly before sunset, and the backlighting really highlights its white tail.
