Mountain Bluebird Pair in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

I've taken a break for the last 24 hours in Yellowstone because it was so sunny and I needed a rest after two weeks of very long days. Because I didn't photograph anything yesterday morning when I went out, here's another image from three days ago. It was convenient to photograph this mountain bluebird nest from the car with the 600 f4 II and 2x III, and it was great to be able to crank up the ISO on the 1D X to get a good shutter speed with such a long focal length. I got nice images of the female, then the male, and also the pair together (above).

As part of my day off, Jan and I went up to Bozeman yesterday afternoon and evening for some shopping and a great dinner at Ferraro's. I also shipped back the rental 600 f4 II, so I'll be using my old, trusty 500 f4 for the next 24 hours until I pick up my new 600 f4 II.
