I've been processing images from my visit to the South Coyote Buttes area of the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and I can't wait to return because the formations and patterns created by the colorful sandstone really speak to me. This image is of small sandstone fins, about 1 in (3cm) high and 1/8 in (3mm) thick. I used the tilt feature of the 90mm tilt/shift lens to align the plane of focus along sand to get the whole scene in focus without forcing me to keep the camera body parallel to the ground and a polarizer to reduce the reflections on the sand to allow the true color to come through.
