Yesterday evening I discovered a red streak in the Navajo sandstone in Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument near Boulder. It was caused by a thin deposit of iron-rich material that started to rust when it was exposed as the surrounding Navajo sandstone eroded. After the sun had set, the wonderful warm diffuse light really made the red streak stand out and it reminded me of something you'd see in Valley Of Fire State Park in Nevada, hence the name of the image: Fire Streak.
