I'm in the Conata Basin of South Dakota, the area that includes Badlands National Park and the Buffalo Gap National Grassland, to photograph Black-Footed Ferrets. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any yet in the area that was productive last year. I have seen several Red Fox that haven't been excited about having their pictures taken and this Badger that didn't mind me taking a few pictures before it ran off. I'm using the 1D Mk IV, instead of the 1D X, because the 1.3x magnification factor gives me a bit more reach for the skittish ferrets and also provides a slightly lower viewing angle while shooting from the car.
