Grizzly Bears in Glacier National Park, Montana

Yesterday afternoon and evening in Glacier National Park was the best Grizzly Bear photography I've ever had. I photographed three bears, a sow with a yearling cub and a lone adult, multiple times. First the two would be out and visible, then the other one, then the two, then the one, then the two.

In the image above, the lone adult Grizzly Bear was really close to the road and was heading towards the road during its first appearance. It was a really laid back bear that gave me several nice portrait and some berry-eating opportunities.

In the image above, the Grizzly Bear sow and yearling cub are playing down along the shore of Lake Sherburne during the last photographic appearance they made. I had been trying to get some good shots of these two since I saw them on my first day in the park. They're usually in heavy brush feeding and very rarely do both of them have their heads up at the same time. I was thrilled when they went down into the short grass along the shore where they were out in the open, and I was ecstatic when they started to play.

It just kept getting better when the Grizzly Bear sow and yearling cub moved into Lake Sherburne and continued to play. It was a great way to end the day!
