Yesterday evening, I hiked up to the Leanchoil Hoodoos along Hoodoo Creek. The first 1 km (0.6 mi) was an easy stroll through the closed campground, and the final 1.6 km (1 mi) was a steep trail that climbed about 300 m (985 ft) practically non-stop. I arrived maybe a half an hour or an hour too late and most of the hoodoo bottoms were already in the shade. I photographed what I could that was illuminated by the direct late-afternoon sunlight, then waited for the whole area to be in full shade after the sun set behind a ridge. It was going to take too long for the light to cooperate, and I had the grueling downhill hike to get back down the hill, so I didn't wait and headed back.
