While photographing a whirled loco, a purple wildflower, I was looking around for my next subject. I noticed a bee hanging from a yellow sweetvetch, a yellowish wildflower, and after I finished with the whirled loco, I went over to investigate. The bee was in an odd position and I couldn't figure out how it was holding onto the flower. Then I noticed that a female goldenrod spider was holding the red-tailed bumble bee in place as it was eating it — totally fascinating!
